Talcum Powder Lawsuits
Handling cases Nationwide - Call Today for a Free Consultation
To date, more than 5,500 women have filed lawsuits against Johnson & Johnson for making unsafe talcum powder products that led to the development of ovarian cancers. In a recent California lawsuit, one victim, 63-year-old Eva Echeverria, was awarded $417 million for the damages she suffered from regular talc powder use.
After receiving multiple complaints, the company has remained steadfast in their account that they did not know of any dangers, despite several sources that say otherwise. If you or someone you love developed cancer after using talcum powder on a regular basis, you may be eligible to receive compensation.

About Talcum Powder
Johnson & Johnson’s popular baby powder has long-since been a staple in American homes. While the product boasted many uses, the ability to reduce friction and absorb moisture made it especially useful as a feminine hygiene product, a use which the company supported. When certain Johnson & Johnson products containing talcum powder, including Baby Powder and Shower-to-Shower products, are used regularly by women, the contents of the powders may travel to internal parts of the body, where they may cause the development of ovarian cancer.
Although the company promoted safe, daily use of their talcum products for all consumers, studies have since proven that the use of talcum powder can lead to the development of deadly cancers.
Women who used talcum products made by Johnson & Johnson face a higher risk of developing ovarian cancer. Back in the 1970’s, talcum powder was found to contain traces of asbestos in its natural form, which can be extremely hazardous to humans. Since then, asbestos has been removed from talc products, though the danger associated with talcum powder use seems to remain.
Since the public has become aware of the risks associated with talc products, there have been numerous studies to examine the potential danger. Studies have had varied results, though all have indicated some increased risk of ovarian cancer for women who use talcum powder. One such study indicated that 63% of women with ovarian cancer had used talcum powder at some point. As a result of these various studies, the Internal Agency for Research on Cancer classified talc as a possible carcinogen for women.
The popular company, Johnson & Johnson, was aware of the potential dangers caused by talcum powder use and they continued to sell their products. Not only did they continue to produce an unsafe product, they also failed to properly warn consumers about the potential risk. Johnson & Johnson did not properly brand their talc products with a warning label to alert users to the serious risk of ovarian cancer. For these reasons and others, Johnson & Johnson may be held liable for the damage caused by the use of their products.
If you or someone you know developed ovarian cancer after using talcum powder, you may be eligible to seek compensation for the resulting damages. Compensation may include medical expenses, loss of wages, as well as pain and suffering. If you lost a family member to ovarian cancer caused by the use of talc products, you may be eligible for a wrongful death claim. Our dedicated legal team is prepared to fight for your right to compensation on behalf of you and your family.
